The Basic Automation Board 740 is a VMEbus CPU board containing a PowerPC processor and PMC extension capability optimized for use in industrial automation and image processing applications. The available PMC modules consist of a Graphics Controller with two independent graphics controllers on the same module, and a Frame Grabber with full DMA into processor memory.

Users can build the board they need by choosing between PowerPC CPUs 603e, 604e, and 740e, with processing power ranging from 200 to 450 MHz. Memory is selectable from 8 to 256 Mb DRAM. For memory up to 128 Mb, standard SO-DIMM modules can be used.

The board provides every component essential for communication, including 10/1000 Mbps Ethernet, 2 to 4 serial connection, Centronics, PCIbus, and 32-b VMEbus with full software support.
