The Universal Robot Controller (URC)
The URC is designed to "plug and play" using the exact plug connectors and wiring going from the old robot arm to its old control. There are significant spare parts cost savings for multiple robot users who switch their older robot arms to the URC. Also, those expensive old spare parts inventories and obsolete controls can be profitably sold or cannibalized once the URCs start going in.
The Universal Robot Controller normally offers equal or better performance than the original robot controller for a robot arm in good condition. Dramatic increases in data processing speed achieved using Pentium Series Processor technology. Flexible, expandable I/O and up to 32 axes servo control offer unlimited system integration possibilities. Exceptional improvements can be shown in continuous path applications, and where the performance trade off between speed and accuracy clearly favors one over the other.
The URC eliminates the restrictions of proprietary hardware, limited options and single source supplier. It uses commercially available off-the-shelf hardware. The URC's open architecture scalable design assures that it can be continually upgraded with standard hardware and software components, keeping it cost and performance effective.
