The SM20, 20 W DC-DC converter doesn't need to be manually placed on a board
The SM20, 20 W DC-DC converter doesn't need to be manually placed on a board. By eliminating encapsulation and potting processes that make units at 10 W or higher too large for automated assembly, and by using a 64-pin leadframe-attach, and by regulating dissipation through a board material with ten times the thermal transfer of FR-4, the company says it's able to build its 400-mil-high models to be SMT pick-and-place compatible. Features include 10 millisecond start-up for hot-pluggability, remote On/Off, and 24 V or 48 V inputs. Converters are UL1950, UL1459, BS6301, EN60950, CE Mark and CSA22.2-234 approved. Price is about $50 ea/1,000 (at time of publication).
