This tool allows applications to be targeted to ROM memory and stores Java class files for execution out of ROM memory, significantly reducing overall memory requirements and associated costs.
This tool allows applications to be targeted to ROM memory and stores Java class files for execution out of ROM memory, significantly reducing overall memory requirements and associated costs. With assistance from the ROMizer, you can build configurations that run in the smallest possible footprint, far less than that of other Java-compliant products. It allows developers to prune out of the load image components that are not necessary. It also supports Ahead-of Time compiling, which translates Java byte-code programs to native machine language for significant speed improvements.

The ROMizer tool supports user configuration selectivity. This feature lets the user ahead-of-time compile all or part of the Java application. If compiling the entire application is undesired, the user can specify exactly which methods to be compiled and the remaining methods will then be interpreted.

The ROMizer tool allows developers to target ROM memory for their Embedded PERC applications. It has the following features:

  • Enables execution of Embedded PERC code out of ROM
  • Supports integration of Java, C, and assembler software
  • An optional ahead-of-time (AOT) compiler which compiles Java code to native code for faster execution. User can specify exactly which Java methods are to be AOT compiled and which are to be interpreted
  • Allows for the explicit addition or removal of Java classes in the resulting ROM image
  • Allows for exclusion of the Java dynamic classloader to reduce memory footprint
