Psipenta Announces ERP Initiative for Small-, Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) Discrete Manufacturers
Psipenta USA Inc. (Westwood, MA), a provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for the mid-size capital equipment industry, announced an initiative between its European operations and the Institute for Organizational and Technical Design (IOT; Gelsenkirchen, Germany), that will lead to enhanced software offerings for small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) discrete manufacturers in Europe and the United States.
"ERP systems have traditionally not met the needs of the small- to mid-size enterprises requiring affordable, easy-to-use systems that can be implemented rapidly by small IT staffs," says Peter Lopes, VP of marketing for Psipenta USA. "Stripped down, ‘plain vanilla' systems generally fail, since SMEs require comprehensive functionality that also meets specific industry needs. Through this partnership, we anticipate developing such systems for select industries."
The first stage of the initiative will be to develop concepts and guidelines for a quick, easy implementation of a pre-configured Psipenta solution for the machinery and plant construction market in Europe, followed by the United States. The effort will be guided by Professor Dr. Arno Niemietz, who is both faculty member and the CEO for the IOT.
SME versions of Psipenta for specific discrete industries are expected to be marketed in the United States beginning in 2000.
