PISIO Card for Motion Control System

Star Micronics ics' Advanced Motion Control Group has introduced a new PISIO motion control card that offers a way to create a parallel communications link, enabling low-end PLCs to control all SAMCOP Servo Peripherals.

The PISIO card converts parallel to serial signals, providing users with low-cost single or multi-axis control. While the product was designed for use with the RC series of motors, it furthers Star's unified control concept by also linking with the R and B series motors. The card can be controlled by limit switches without a controller, eliminating the need for an external Hard PLC.

Star has also introduced an embedded PLC controller option on the PISIO-1C card. This option saves OEMs the added cost of purchasing expensive controllers for motion control systems, by enabling an on-board microcontroller to function as a "small PLC."
