Network Time Servers
CoBox Network Time Servers provide support for the Network Time Protocol (NTP) used by a wide variety of devices in network timekeeping. The NTP protocol constructs a hierarchy of network devices and ensures that each device gets its timing information from the time source accurately. Support is also provided for the UDP/time protocol used by some older Unix systems and applications-specific devices. CoBox Network Time Servers also utilize a proprietary protocol which broadcasts timing information to Microsoft® Windows 3.1/3.11 PCs or other systems that do not support NTP. Each has a DB25 serial port for initial configuration and a GPS antenna attachment. The unit can be ordered with or without a GPS antenna. On the network side, RJ45 (10BASE-T) and AUI Ethernet connections are available on Ethernet models (E1); STP (SubD9) and RJ45 (10BASE-T) interfaces are available on Token Ring models (TR1).
CoBox Network Time Servers can be easily managed or configured via its serial port or via telnet logins. Flash ROM allows for easy software upgrades via TFTP or serial port downloads. Lantronix offers free software upgrades for the life of the products, which are available from the Lantronix website. Like all Lantronix products, CoBox Network Time Servers are backed by a 5-year limited warranty and free technical support.
