Network Communications Module
The Intelligent Network Communications Module, which supports serial and DeviceNet connections with the company's 2600XM and 2700 controllers
N/Agent Network Communications Module, which supports serial and DeviceNet connections with the company's 2600XM and 2700 controllers. The 2716D card enables the 2600XM to be a DeviceNet slave, while the 2700 series can be a DeviceNet master, slave, or both master and slave. Slave capabilities include Bit Strobe and Poll/Change of State/Cyclic Messages, which can provide additional explicit messaging links with UCMM capabilities. Users can build the network with DeviceNet Configurator software and then download the configuration files to a 2716D master card residing on a 2700 series controller. The master module establishes links to each device on the network and maps each device's I/O points at the master (local) node. The remote devices' I/O states can then be integrated into the control strategies mediated by the master controller. The configurator also has a Monitor Mode, which identifies and interrogates all devices on the DeviceNet network through the 2716D connection. Monitor Mode can establish links, execute link commands, send and receive data, and generate a network traffic log. Diagnostic LEDs on the front panel of the 2716D indicate DeviceNet and network status and are useful for troubleshooting. An on-board 32-bit processor enables the network and serial connections to operate at full rated speed (500 K for network and up to 38.4 K for serial) without burdening the controller's CPU.
