Nematron announces new Optimation RTU with Modbus capabilities
Ann Arbor MI — Nematron Corporation (Amex: NMN), a leading developer of embedded and open architecture control solutions, introduces the new OL4228 Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) utilizing the Modbus communications protocol.

Nematron's wholly owned subsidiary, Optimation Inc., has a long history of providing RTUs that deliver point of use I/O, built-in Ethernet, and operator panel capabilities under the OptiLogic brand name. The new OL4228 extends the OptiLogic family of products to systems using Modbus communications. Any Modbus/TCP capable, PC-based application can now interface with the complete line of OptiLogic Ethernet I/O modules.

Optimation President Dennis Sierk said, "Adding a competitively priced, Modbus compatible RTU to our established family of Ethernet I/O products, gives customers both proven connectivity and greater flexibility for centralized or distributed control applications."

Modbus Ethernet is an industrial protocol standard that has become the de facto standard for communication between industrial automation devices.

Nematron Corporation has been setting the standard for PC-based control and Operator Interface since the birth of the industry. Nematron introduced the first industrial control computers, the first Windows NT/2000 based real-time control software and holds numerous patents on advanced control and information system components. As the only company that manufactures a full line of embedded or open architecture control solutions, Nematron continues to prosper by satisfying customers in nearly every automated industry.
