The F/T sensor system measures the full six components of force and torque. It consists of a transducer, shielded high-flex cable, and intelligent ISA or stand-alone controller.
The compact and rugged monolithic transducer uses silicon strain gages to sense forces. The transducer's silicon strain gages provide high noise immunity and allow high overload protection, which is standard on all models.
The ATI Industrial Automation ISA bus interface card provides an easy interface between a computer (IBM-AT bus) and an ATI Industrial Automation force/torque transducer. The high speed Digital Signal Processor (DSP)-based interface card performs operations similar to ATI's stand-alone RS-232-based controller at a much faster rate. Digital discrete I/O capability is available for signaling user-programmed F/T thresholds.
Windows and LabVIEW drivers for the card allow the user to integrate force and torque sensing into LabVIEW®, Visual Basic and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software without the need to write custom drivers.
The stand-alone controller can output forces and torques (F/T values) via the standard RS-232 serial port at a variety of baud rates. Digital discrete I/O capability is available for signaling user-programmed F/T thresholds, monitoring system health, and biasing (zeroing) F/T values. An analog and/or parallel board option is available for high speed output. Parallel interface board and communication utility software are available for IBM PC-compatible computers.
