Metso To supply Automation Technology To CHP Plants In Europe
Finland's Metso has received orders for automation technology solutions that enable CHP plant operators in several parts of Europe to improve their energy efficiency and lower their environmental load.
The company is to supply advanced combustion management systems for the reduction of emissions at the 225 MW Jaworzno III CHP plant in southern Poland.
The project will be carried out in close cooperation with Fortum Power and Heat Oy, Power Solutions, a company responsible for the modernization of six coal-fired boilers at the plant.
Metso's delivery scope includes an advanced process control (APC) solution running on the metsoDNA CR automation and information platform. Based on a fuzzy logic controller, it will coordinate, supervise and optimize the combustion process efficiently in real time.
Meanwhile, the company is to supply an energy automation system to the new 50 MW biomass CHP plant being built by RWE npower renewables in Markinch, Fife, Scotland.
The design, supply, installation, construction and commissioning for the plant is provided by Aker Solutions.
The delivery by Metso consists of a metsoDNA single architecture control system for the plant consisting of a 155 MWth circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler, a steam turbine plant and a fuel handling plant. The new power boiler will also be supplied by Metso.
Metso has also received an order to supply automation to a 40 MW cogeneration plant being built in the Artenius Sines petrochemical industrial park in Portugal.
The scope includes a metsoDNA distributed control system featuring an integrated trend, event archive and reporting system.
