Lilly Software Named to Inc. 500 List of Fast-Growing Private Companies
Ranking at #238, this is LSA's second consecutive year on the Inc. 500 roster. Inc. describes the roster as an exclusive report on the companies and CEOs who are changing the face of American business. Noteworthy alumni include such household corporate names as Microsoft and Timberland.
LSA distinguished itself as a "think-tank" of supply chain management, and has predicted or influenced the direction of the industry. CEO Richard T. Lilly was a pioneer in the field, working alongside such innovators as IBM's Oliver Wight. Lilly said he has "Always found the future of supply chain management very predictable, because the goals have never changed.
"The first goal is more . . . more production from the same resources." LSA's flagship VISUAL Manufacturing product was the first supply-chain management solution to include advanced planning and scheduling (APS) technology, now on its way to becoming an industry standard. LSA won a patent in 1998 for its concurrent scheduling technology, which is a key element of APS.
Lilly identifies the second goal as greater ease of use, "And we've offered that from the start as well. Six years ago, when manufacturers were squinting at green screens with elaborate menus, we came out with a graphical product that emulated the paperwork they were used to. They will always want it easier, and we're committed to making it easier."
LSA has as its goal to become the first complete supply-chain solution for manufacturers, encompassing all supply-chain functions from order entry through distribution.
To be eligible for the Inc. 500, companies must have been independent and privately held through 1998, have had at least $200,000 in sales in the base year of 1994; and 1998 sales must have exceeded those in 1997. The ranking is based on percent increase in sales from 1994 through 1998.
