Intergraph Announces SmartPlant Construction

Huntsville, AL - Intergraph has announced its newest SmartPlant Enterprise software solution, SmartPlant Construction, to address the specific needs of construction firms and facilitate smooth work processes with engineering and operations.

SmartPlant Construction will enable process and plant construction groups to better plan and manage their work by assimilating the dynamic inputs from engineering, procurement, fabrication, site materials management and craft labor plans into a solution specifically for construction. Effectively managing this information allows construction companies to increase profits and improve CAPEX efficiency for owner operators.

Features will include dynamic construction workface planning, heavy equipment lift planning, scaffold planning, craft density analysis and commissioning. To enhance flexibility and interoperability, SmartPlant Construction is an integrated solution with an open API to accommodate 3D models and other data from non-Intergraph applications.

"After an exhaustive analysis of the construction market, existing products and vendors, and input from our customers, we determined an integrated solution with an open API and consistent technology was the best solution," said Gerhard Sallinger, president of Intergraph Process, Power & Marine. "The dramatic success and widespread industry adoption of SmartPlant 3D design and data management solutions makes SmartPlant Construction the next logical step in streamlining enterprise engineering information throughout the concept, design, construction, operations and maintenance life cycle."

SmartPlant Enterprise includes proven, modular solutions for 3D design, intelligent 2D schematics, isometric generation, spool detailing automation, P&ID, electrical and instrumentation systems design, materials management and data management for engineering, operations and maintenance.

Building on this proven portfolio, SmartPlant Construction will offer 3D visualization, construction status handling, construction planning visualization, lift planning, plant commissioning, scaffold planning, labor planning, and site materials management functions.

SmartPlant Construction will benefit the entire engineering, construction and operations value chain:

  • Engineering firms can automate and standardize many tasks through the use of rule-based automations that they can own with SmartPlant 3D and SmartMarine 3D
  • Fabricators can shorten cycle time and reduce costs from drawings-to-invoice through automated detailing
  • Constructors can have improved visibility on project plans, accelerate their ability to re-plan dynamically in response to real-world changes and enhanced integration with engineering to optimize both engineering and construction decisions
  • Owner operators can consistently manage engineering information from concept through operations and maintenance, including SAP-certified interfaces and support of popular portal technologies for common operations tasks, common engineering queries and best practice management of their engineering design basis

SmartPlant Construction is planned for release in 2009.
