The IEISA series of Industrial Ethernet Network Interface Modules (NIMs) links ISA bus compatible computers with Ethernet local area networks or fieldbuses
The IEISA series of Industrial Ethernet Network Interface Modules (NIMs) links ISA bus compatible computers with Ethernet local area networks or fieldbuses. The IEISA is intended for industrial applications and complies with industrial EMC standards. Connectors to its 10BASE-T port can be conventional RJ-45 or the more secure DB-9. The module is NE2000 compliant and supports either Ethernet II or 802.3 framing. An abundance of software drivers exist for operating systems such as DOS, Windows 95, 98 and NT.

The IEISA incorporates the highly featured Realtek RTL8019AS Ethernet controller. By being NE2000 compliant, the IEISA can take advantage of the numerous software drivers available for NE2000 compatible modules. Drivers exist for all the operating systems including DOS, Windows and Linux. For plug and play operating systems, the module can be configured for PnP operation. For non-PnP operating systems, the module can be set for either jumpered or jumperless mode. This is especially important when working with embedded controllers that do not support PnP.

The IEISA has other features including full duplex operation which effectively doubles the data rate when used with switching hubs. Another feature is auto polarity correction on the receive lines to its 10BASE-T port. Two LEDs are provided for diagnostic purposes. The yellow LED indicates that the module is receiving data while the green LED indicates a proper link has been established with the hub.

The IEISA is intended for industrial Ethernet applications and complies with industrial EMC requirements. Both a conventional RJ-45 connector and a more ruggedized DB-9 connector complying to Industrial Ethernet pinouts are provided.
