Fluke to Retire 8840 Series DMMs And 8920 Series RF Voltmeters
<%=company%> (Everett, WA), a leader in compact, professional electronic test tools, announces plans to end manufacturing of the 8840 Series Digital Multimeters and the 8920A Series Digital Wideband True RMS Voltmeters by the end of 1999.
New orders will be accepted through September 30. Retired models will continue to receive complete product support, including parts and service, as customary with all Fluke products.
``For many years, these instruments have set the standard for performance and value and are still a viable solution for many of our customers,'' said Bob Myers, marketing manager for the Fluke Calibration Business Unit. A combination of discontinued components and reduced sales volume led to the decision to discontinue these products, Myers said. ``We understand how this can inconvenience some customers, so we want to give them plenty of time to place final orders or identify alternatives.''
The Fluke 8840 Series, introduced in 1984, is a family of 5 1/2 digit multimeters popular in bench and automated test systems applications. The 8920A, introduced in 1977, has been widely used in design, test and service applications for precise measurement of alternating voltage at frequencies up to 20 MHz.
Fluke's products are used by technicians and engineers in service, installation, maintenance, manufacturing test, and quality functions in a variety of industries throughout the world. Fluke, founded in 1948, has over 2,100 employees worldwide and distributes its products in over 100 countries.
