FKI Logistex Wins Contract From Preferred Freezer Services
$2.3 million deal covers all-electric Condor aisle-changing crane system
Marietta, GA - FKI Logistex®, a global leader in integrated material handling solutions, announces a $2.3 million deal with Preferred Freezer Services® to outfit the company's new freezer warehouse in Newark, New Jersey. The contract, which covers the implementation of a Condor™ aisle-changing crane system, will be the seventh between FKI Logistex and Preferred Freezer Services, a third-party logistics and freezer storage company specializing in seafood products.
"We firmly believe our Condor sites are more profitable than our other sites that use competing technology," says John Galiher, president and CEO of Preferred Freezer Services. "We like the efficiency, simplicity and reliability of our FKI Logistex cranes. When compared to hydraulic-based systems, the all-electric Condors offer more uptime, fewer maintenance requirements, and more efficient power usage. The Condors also do not require a battery changing area, which frees up additional floor space."

"The ability of the Condors to move freely between aisles also enables us to use fewer machines to cover a site. What's more, the Condor's all-electric operation is safer and cleaner, avoiding the dirty and dangerous spray of hydraulic fluids that broken hydraulic systems can have."

Preferred Freezer Services has become a close partner with FKI Logistex, working together to add design features to the Condors, such as an onboard camera and monitor set that gives crane drivers a live rear view while driving in reverse.
The new Preferred Freezer Services facility will be the company's largest storage warehouse yet, with 201,200 square feet of floor space and a building height of 60 feet. The FKI Logistex Condors will be used for pallet storage and retrieval in a 51 foot high racking system encompassing 26 aisles 300 feet in length. Scheduled delivery date for the new crane system is September 2005, with a scheduled commissioning date of November 2005.
