VMIC's IOMax system provides a common, flexible I/O structure for local and remote control applications requiring up to 256 points per node. Twenty-five I/O modules are available, including 15 digital, nine analog, and one high-speed counter/PWM. Multiple module mixes accommodate from 8- to 32-point I/O densities per node, and multiple field termination options are available, including spring clamp, IEC, and connector style, which provide support for 2-, 3-, and 4-wire devices.

The I/O system provides automatic addressing that eliminates traditional configuration and the need for hand-held devices. Users simply set the drop address for the host controller via a rotary switch.

The system communicates with its host via DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, Ethernet, or IONet.

A hot insertion feature enables the addition and/or replacement of I/O modules while a machine or process is running - without affecting field wiring. Modules also feature a point-level electronic short circuit fault indicator and auto reset. A field-power LED indicator confirms power availability for driving outputs, and a backplane power LED indicates power availability for each I/O module.
