The Hirschmann ANS (Automated Network Solutions) Group has introduced a new series of junction boxes that ensure fast, dependable connections to sensors and actuators without the need for elaborate, unreliable wiring, even in harsh environments. The junction boxes are a passive distribution system that significantly reduce time, costs and plant downtime. They eliminate the need to strip cables, insulate wires, attach ferrules and install PG screw couplings - instead, users simply plug cables together.

The series includes a junction box with a terminal block, which can be fitted on-site with a connecting lead appropriate to the application. This unit is configured to act as a pluggable, electrical isolation facility which permits the operation of two separate electrical circuits within a single box. It has one signal per output, and has integral potential isolation for emergency-stop applications.

Hirschmann also offers a junction box that incorporates an integrally molded connecting lead coated in corrosion-resistant polyurethane, making it suitable for high-flex applications. It has one or two signals per output.

Other important features of Hirschmann ANS junction boxes include IP 68 environmental sealing, integral LED status displays for instant fault location, and industry-standard sensor/actuator interconnects. With a low profile height of 16 mm, the junction boxes are ideal for applications offering limited clearance. Both units are available in 4- or 8-port versions; Hirschmann can provide other variants on request (e.g., a 6-port junction box).
