Keyence Corporation Of Americaes Visual Analog I/O modules are designed to operate exclusively with the KV-Visual PLC Series PLCs. The modules eliminate the barriers of conventional analog signal transmission to PLCs—noise, attenuation and distance. The series provides machine designers greater flexibility in positioning analog devices and interfacing analog data with PLCs. Numerous control applications exist in industries such as electronic manufacturing, packaging and injection molding.

Two models are available: KL-4AD (four channels/analog input) and KL-2DA (two channels/analog output). The modules are installed local-to-analog devices which can be located at distances up to 3900 ft. (1200 meters or 3/4 miles) from the PLC control panel. The analog signal is digitized on-the-spot and can be transmitted, using a single cable, up to 3900 ft., free of noise and attenuation. The digital signal is input to the PLC via a Model KL-N10 Interface Module. While multiple interfaces may be necessary, depending on the number of analog devices, up to 128 channels of data can be processed by a single KL-N10V.

Alternatively, the Model KL-2DA converts digital data into an analog format to drive such devices as chart recorders, valve actuators, motor drives, analog meters, etc., in a broad range of process control applications. The modules simplify the PLC wiring interface since it interfaces directly with the KL-N10V which will immediately digitize and transmit the analog signal with all the advantages of the KL-4AD. Both units can operate concurrently where applications require the handling of mixed analog and digital data.
