Watchdog is an application that watches for specified events and alerts the user when they take place. Its two primary functions are to watch for SPC Alerts generated by the data capture tools and to send a pager message to personnel notifying them of the SPC Alerts. It can also trigger switch closures when specified parameters are reached. These can be used to disable further equipment processing until the problem is corrected. The utility provides real-time information on SPC alerts as they occur. It also provides summary information that can be used to track the progress over specific periods of time—days, weeks or months.
