Agapakis Appointed CTO of RVSI Acuity CiMatrix
RVSI appointed Dr. John Agapakis as Chief Technology Officer of RVSI Acuity CiMatrix (Canton, Mass.). Dr. Agapakis will also serve as senior VP of engineering.
Dr. Agapakis, 43, has served as vice president of Machine Vision R&D since 1996. In that capacity, he was responsible for all new vision product development activities including the Visionscape product line. He was also vice president of R&D at Acuity Imaging Inc. at the time of the company's acquisition by RVSI in 1996, and held a similar position at Automatix Inc., which merged into Acuity in 1994. Dr. Agapakis joined Automatix in 1984 after receiving a Ph.D. degree from MIT with a thesis in the area of vision guided robotics.
Dr. Agapakis will oversee all engineering activities of RVSI Acuity CiMatrix, including engineering centers in Canton, Mass. and Nashua, N.H.
RVSI Acuity CiMatrix, the inventor of Data Matrix symbology and Code 128, is a supplier of machine vision systems, bar code and advanced two-dimensional symbology readers for manufacturing and distribution environments. RVSI Acuity CiMatrix combines advanced machine vision and automatic identification technology to enable manufacturers to automatically identify, track, and assure quality throughout the manufacturing process.
