Acacia Technologies and MK Group Join Forces to Deliver First Solutions to Leverage BizWorks Framework

Computer Associates International Inc. (CA; Islandia, NY) announced that Acacia Technologies and MK Group will be combined into one application business unit under the recently created interBiz Solutions division. The newly combined business unit has been named interBiz Supply Chain Group, and will focus exclusively on delivering strategic business advantages to manufacturing and logistics clients. interBiz Solutions is a new CA division designed to assist worldwide clients, suppliers and partners in capitalizing on e-commerce business opportunities.

interBiz Supply Chain Group consolidates the proven technologies from Acacia and MK Group, and will capitalize on BizWorks, an open framework for application integration offering secure knowledge sharing, real time management and inter-business optimization. BizWorks is built on CA core technologies such as Unicenter TNG, Jasmine, 3D visualization, and Neugents neural network pattern recognition.

"interBiz solutions allow us to take our expertise and technology in enterprise management and e-commerce and apply it to the business applications marketspace," says Reuven Battat, president of interBiz Solutions.

As a part of CA's newly created interBiz Solutions division, interBiz Supply Chain Group, along with CA's other business units -- interBiz Financial Group, interBiz Banking Group and ACCPAC International -- will provide clients with a complete spectrum of enterprise management, financial, manufacturing, human resources applications, e-commerce supply chain management, logistics management programs and integrated services.

Named to head interBiz Supply Chain Group is John J. McCarron, who formerly served as general manager and senior VP of Acacia Technologies. "By combining the resources of both organizations, we can offer a world-class, platform-independent suite of solutions that brings the greatest value to our clients," says McCarron.

McCarron adds that interBiz Supply Chain Group will continue its successful push into the mid-market manufacturing marketplace, while sustaining its hold as the world leader in supplying logistics business solutions.

McCarron has more than three decades of experience in sales management, the past two decades in the software industry. He served as senior VP of North American Sales for Acacia Technologies from April 1996 until July 1998, when he became general manager.

Acacia Technologies previously focused entirely on developing business applications for the IBM AS/400 client/server market in manufacturing, distribution and warehouse management. Offerings included an integrated suite of ERP, warehouse management systems (WMS) and advanced planning and scheduling (APS) products, including PRMS, KBM, Warehouse Boss and Quick Response Engine.

MK Group provided complete manufacturing and distribution solutions for the Windows NT and Unix markets with products such as the powerful ERP business solution MK Manufacturing, the complete end-to-end enterprise management system MK Enterprise, and MK Logistics, the premier logistics and warehouse management solution.
