(Westlake Village, California, USA, April 6, 2004) Surfware, Inc., maker of SURFCAM CAD/CAM Systems, announced today that SURFCAM 2003 continues to support SpaceBall® and SpaceMouse® 3D motion controllers from 3Dconnexion, a Logitech company. Both input devices function with SURFCAM's latest CAD/CAM software release, and the two companies will expand their collaborative sales and marketing efforts.

Support for 3Dconnexion controllers increases productivity by allowing SURFCAM CAD/CAM software users to employ both hands simultaneously, efficiently distributing the input workload. The motion controller is used for moving, rotating, panning and zooming-in on the part while a traditional mouse is used as the selection tool for menus and icons. Controller device buttons can be customized to quickly execute the most commonly used commands inside SURFCAM 2, 3, 4, and 5 axis machining software. With the load between both hands, the user decreases the number of mouse-clicks, increases work speed and places less strain on the hands.

"SURFCAM has worked with 3Dconnexion controllers for some time now and we anticipate continuing to implement their products in coming releases. It is important to us that our customers are able to stay competitive by utilizing the best efficiency tools on the market," says Joe McChesney, SURFCAM Product Manager. "3Dconnexion's unique application of ergonomics and intuitive input control increases SURFCAM's efficiency, something critical to our customers." Notes Brian Kindilien, Surfware Vice President, "A strong promotional and sales relationship between Surfware and 3Dconnexion means that we can offer our users a suite of powerful tools that extends the efficency of SURFCAM. In turn, we are confident that 3Dconnexion will realize an extensive market of SURFCAM users around the world that will need their tremendous products."
