H-E-B Grocery Company of San Antonio, Texas reports $2 million in hard savings from an infrared thermography program that they started about 10 years ago. That's $200,000 in savings per annum! The large grocery chain examines its stores with their FLIR 570. Refrigeration and electrical systems are checked. The building exterior is scanned, including the roof. An investment that saves this much time and money is very wise indeed.

We help save lives too. A heroic helicopter crew from the 36 Rescue Flight out of Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington, rescued an elderly woman suffering from Alzheimer's with the help of their FLIR infrared imager. The ThermaCAM PM 695 has been named the winner of Laser Focus World magazine's coveted Commercial Technology Achievement Award. This recognition confers on FLIR Systems the unique distinction of having brought to market a product of exceptional commercial significance during the period October 1999 to September 2000. Laser Focus World will hold an awards ceremony at Photonics West in San Jose, California on January 22, 2001. Additionally, winners will appear in the January issue.
