Acme Electric Corporation was founded in 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio. Since that time, Acme has been a leader in supplying power conversion equipment to the electrical and electronic markets. Dry type distribution transformers have been a central part of the Acme product line for over sixty years. In 1981, Acme added DC power supplies to its growing line of products with acquisition of Standard Power power supplies.

Today, Acme Electric Corporation consists of three divisions: Aerospace, Electronics, and the Power Distribution Products Division which is located in Lumberton, North Carolina. The Power Distribution Products Division manufacturers a vast array of stock catalog products for AC and DC power distribution, regulation and control applications. These products serve a wide range of end uses including residential, commercial, institutional and industrial construction; maintenance, repair and operations in plants and factories; large OEM businesses; and, low voltage landscape lighting applications.

Acme® transformer products are sold through a network of electrical wholesale distributors located in the U.S. and Canada. Acme enjoys a large share of the U.S. transformer market, while competing against some of the largest electrical products manufacturers in the world.
