Valmet To Deliver A Steam Turbine Automation System Replacement To Härnösand Energi & Miljö AB In Härnösand, Sweden

Valmet will deliver a steam turbine automation system replacement to Härnösand Energi & Miljö AB in Härnösand, Sweden.

The order is included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2023. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The steam turbine automation system will be taken over by the plant in November 2024.

“This deal continues our good cooperation as we already have a service agreement with the plant. It will now be extended to cover the turbine automation system as well,” says Thomas Wiberg, Sales Manager, Automation Systems, Valmet.

The Härnösand plant runs on 100 percent renewable biofuel from the surrounding forests. The produced heat powers a turbine with an 11.7 MW generator providing roughly 25 percent of the electricity used in the city of Härnösand.

Technical information about the delivery
Valmet’s total scope of delivery will include a redundant steam turbine automation system and auxiliaries to replace the existing governor, programmable logic and IO cards. Valmet will also supply a new turbine protection system according to the standard IEC 61508 SIL 3 and a new installation plate for the existing IO cabinet.
