FLIR Introduces Thermacam® SC 2000 High Performance Thermal Imaging System

June 19, 2000

FLIR Systems, Inc. recently added a new IR camera, the ThermaCAM® SC 2000, to its family of high performance focal plane array (FPA) infrared imaging and temperature measurement systems. Designed specifically for scientific applications, the SC 2000 can be configured to operate as stand-alone thermal analysis system or hand-held portable IR camera. The SC 2000 features real-time 14-bit digital output, precision temperature measurement capabilities from -40° to 2000°C, high thermal sensitivity, and superb image quality. Coupled with FLIR's ThermaCAM® Researcher™ Windows-based digital storage and analysis software program, the SC 2000 offers a totally battery powered research solution.

Featuring an advanced longwave uncooled FPA microbolometer detector, the SC 2000 produces crisp high-definition color thermal images with more than 76,000 individual measurement points per image, enabling engineers to see, measure and quantify heat patterns. Users can distinguish temperature changes as subtle as 0.1°C even while evaluating targets across wide temperature ranges, providing an effective and precise method of understanding heat loads and overall thermal performance.

A 14-bit digital output connector feeds real-time data directly to a PC for recording and analysis. Static 14-bit images, voice and text annotation can also be stored on the camera's removable PC cards. Simple to use, data is easily exported to Excel®, MatLab® and other common analysis packages.

Fully automated camera features, multiple measurement modes, an intuitive multi-lingual interface, a variety of lenses, powerful software programs and multiple data output options, provide flexible analysis capabilities for understanding heat dissipation and thermal performance in most any non-contact measurement and imaging scenario. For even more in-depth thermal analysis of static or real-time images, the SC 2000 is compatible with FLIR's ThermaCAM® Researcher™ software.

The ThermaCAM SC Family consists of five high performance IR systems designed to meet varying scientific applications and budget requirements. According to Andrew Teich, Senior Vice President of Marketing, "The expansion of the SC IR Camera family opens new scientific markets and broadens the range of thermal problems solved; it also strengthens the ThermaCAM product line which has become the world's best selling infrared focal plane array for temperature measurement applications."

To date, over 30,000 commercial systems have been sold worldwide to support applications in research and development, non-destructive testing, manufacturing process control, predictive maintenance/condition monitoring and public safety. FLIR's ThermaCAM series of uncooled and cooled thermal imaging cameras have set the standard for thermographic testing and analysis and are the most widely used IR non-contact temperature measurement systems worldwide.
