Ideal for 5lb. Loads Requiring Zero Backlash

San Jose, California-March 21, 2000 - Ball Screws and Actuators (BS&A) Inc., a leader in precision plastic nut, leadscrew and ballscrew assemblies for linear motion application, have introduced the newest extension of their XC-Series, the XCF-1800. This flange-mount plastic nut is designed for use with 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch leadscrews, making it ideal for 5 pound load capacity applications such as small consumer electronic devices, disk drive mechanisms, medical tools, computer peripherals, light "pick-and-place" and manufacturing operations, and more. A thread mount version (XCT-1800) is also available.

"The XCF-1800 is the tiniest nut we've developed at BS&A," says Steve Randazzo, President, BS&A. "Truly, if you have a space-critical, 5-pound application that requires absolute precision, no backlash, high level axial stiffness, and you don't want to spend the higher costs of a ball screw, this XCF-1800 fits the bill."

The XCF-1800 features BS&A's patented ActiveCAM technology to achieve zero backlash and consistent and minimal drag torque. ActiveCAM incorporates a rigid stainless steel cam that automatically rotates and produces higher axial rigidity without sacrificing life, torque or positional accuracy. Additionally, it automatically compensates for wear and provides exceptional repeatability throughout the life of the nut.

Because of the inherent compounds that make up the plastic used in the XCF-1800 nut, it can be run without additional lubrication. This is ideal for clean environments and areas with difficult access. For extreme temperature or special applications, BS&A offers custom plastics and complete design engineering capabilities. Optionally available is BS&A's TriCOAT coating, which can increase assembly life by reducing friction and providing lower, consistent drag torque.
